PHILOSOPHY
"Every two years, I try to set up a distillery and bring it to the boil to reach the distillate of the great work of the musicians living in Vienna. What does it sound like when 20 wonderful musical personalities, who don't know each other at all and come from the most diverse musical worlds, meet on one stage for one evening? Do you want to put the language of music above all musical styles and genres?
To that end, I'm inviting 20 great musicians from the most diverse musical genres. Classical, electronic, pop, Balkan jazz, R'nB', African desert sounds, opera, songwriting, funk, soul, experimental music and other corners of the city's music scene. The MUSIC DISTILLERY brings together musicians who would never otherwise meet. It's up to the audience to decide how these encounters evolve.
An orchestra that does not know each other trusts in the idea of exchange and dialogue, a musical parliament, symbolic of the many languages, the many ideas, the many cultures that are lived, cultivated, developed or remembered in Europe."
The next performance will take place in one of Europe's major headquarters: in Brussels on 24 October 2024 !

The Music
Distillery
The audience plays a key role in the concert, choosing the musicians who will play together. The protagonists are selected and asked in a step-by-step process, each building on each other. Working like a sculptor: a commitment from one artist results in a new musical direction and, building on this, I try to gradually create a substantial, organically growing, unique orchestra that results in its own special mixture of great personalities. People who play in a wide variety of concert and rehearsal spaces, whether in bars, concert halls, garages, lofts, international stages, festivals, the whole musical life comes to light between the lines and sounds here, carried by the experience and joy of playing and getting to know new sounds and experiences.
Many new encounters and projects have already emerged from the "Music Distillery".
For most of the artistic participants, this concept is new musical and artistic territory and as such very intense and therefore particularly exciting for an audience to experience this in its immediate and direct inclusice way.
Like a speed and blind dating process, the musicians present engage in this musical encounter area in an analogue way. The tension is transferred directly to the performing protagonists as well as to the audience.
The "Music Distillery" is the process of neglecting common classifications, leaving the corset of genres and getting involved freely in the power of music interaction and communication.
New worlds of sound and stylistic moments are constantly emerging. A speed and blind dating element in connection with the world language music.
